It was so incredibly wonderful to see all of you and to re-connect with a smile, a handshake, a hug, a tear or two, and to just remember what it was to be a teenager for just a moment, once again. We were so very young and tender. We all at this stage in our life have been through moments that make us really appreciate this time that we have been fortunate enough to share together. Take Care and God Bless each and every one of you. Class of '78-2008(30 yrs). Until we meet again...

Donna B., you said it well, as did Gina. Personally, I was so scared to show up, as I didn't know what to expect, or if anyone knew who the hell I was (I was not a real social creature back then!). That was SO much fun...the pics on the website are great, but they don't do a damn bit of justice seeing folks in person. I cannot emphasize how wonderful EVERYONE looked!! We're a darn good-looking group of folks! Many, MANY thanks to Buddy, Jeff, Theresa, Marybeth (and anyone else I missed-my apologizes) on putting this together! This was fun! A special message to the following: Gina Raven, thanks for cluing me in on your brother---I'm gonna have so much fun playing with him now! Allan Bettis---I always saw you and nicknamed you the "gentle giant". Thanks for updating me on your sister---how she and I endured working at LJS is beyond me. Finally, to Rob,--you're still the cats meow, and like a fine, wine you get better (looking) with age. All I can say to you, my classmates, is please take care, stay safe, be happy, and God bless! Life is good...

My Head STILL hurts!!As well as several other body parts. Fortunately I took today off work!! Listen,I want to say their is a couple of groups who havent received much recognition. First, we had several volunteers from the Classes of 1979 and 1980 who manned the registration tables. THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH. The second, and most important group, are the Spouses and Families of the Students. I know of several of the husbands of our Female Classmates who just stood back and let their wives have fun. That is a great sacrifice and I really appreciate it. Many of the wives of the male students did the same.Fortunately for me, I have no wife, so I could act stupid and didnt have to worry about doing yardwork today!! That was a GREAT weekend. I should be healed up in about a month.Im sure there will be all sorts of pics and stuff going up soon, so, stay tuned! Have a GREAT week, everyone. :-) Jeff Shepperd

I want to thank everyone that worked so hard to put this together for us. It was a wonderful event and we (Michael, Nan and myself) had a wonderful time catching up with everyone. Thank you Craig Briggs for contacting Paul Davis, it was so nice to see him again and get to know Amy, they are a wonderful couple. During some conversations I thought about the radio station KRMH and remember its debut. We were very young (Bedichek years) and weren't as tuned in as we wanted everyone to believe. Cindy Heflin and I were at the mall and they were doing the promotionals for KRMH; we didn't have a clue what "Good Karma" meant but picked up the bumpers stickers and pretended to know exactly what it was and promptly carried them home to display proudly! Also I saw this morning that George Carlin passed away Sunday; does anyone else remember the English teacher in 9th grade at Crockett that brought in one of his albums and played it for us. I believe that Drew Palmer may have been in that class; it was 2nd or 3rd period. As I remember it she was teaching us about cultures and we had studied India and their religions including, Hinduism and Buddism. Somehow this sequed into us spending a class listening to George Carlin. I am not sure how this happened or the teacher's name but I remember us thinking she was a really cool teacher. Thanks to everyone and it was great catching up!

What a Blast!!! I also stayed home today to recover. It was great seeing everyone, and to those who were uncertain about going but eventually showed up - thanks a bunch - you helped make this a great Reunion!! If anyone took pictures, please post them on the wiki. I thought I had lost my camera and didn't take any pictures. I found it yesterday underneath the passenger seat in my car (Ugh!)

What is this bit of everyone taking the day off? Aren't we all supposed to be tough Texans? Heck, I am at work even after feeling the pain of sucking in a belly for two straight days. Whew! Glad I can let that go now. Thank you to all who put the event on from those of us who did little work outside of showing up and eating the food. The crowd was great, the stories greater and the old pictures of hilarious hair the greatest of all. Rob

What a spectacular weekend! Erick and I had a great time catching up with a lot of old friends and acquaintances. We don't get out much, so getting back to work today is a bit of a challenge. A quick thanks to everyone who made this a wonderful weekend to remember (especially Buddy, you are a genuinely kind and generous person). Thanks to those who orchestrated the happenings and thanks to old friends who's names and faces I remember, but who I could barely relate back to. It was like being around long-lost family, with our connections from the past, catching up on a 30 year separation. It was great fun! Take care everyone.

A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO THE ONES THAT PUT THIS REUNION TOGETHER. It was great seeing everyone again. I had a great time. Leo where did you go? I was hoping to get to talk to you some more. It was fun to look at the pictures with as Vonna my youngest daughter puts it big hair and then to see everyone in person little or no hair. Vonna said she thought her age group acted goofy, they were regular compeared to our group. She had fun friday nite even though she was on Benadryl because she found out Thurs. that she was alergic to kelp. DW

WHAT A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to everyone for a great job putting everything together. Are you sure you aren't professional events specialists? WOW!!!! I am totally impressed. All my inhibitions were put to rest the minute I stepped foot in the Firehall. Thanks to all those who remembered me and to those who said they did. I enjoyed talking to everyone and everyone looked wonderful. (you would never know by looking at us that it has been 30 years) I hope we all keep in touch in the coming years. Thanks again.

Wow! What a great reunion and what an even more fabulous group of people. The CHS class of '78 is truly the greatest student body ever assembled. Many thanks to all my friends who made this event happen and even more thanks to all the classmates who attended. It was wonderful to see your happy faces, meet your families, and share old times as well as new. Somehow the little time we had with friends this weekend, while immensely enjoyable, just left me wanting more. It's hard to rehash old times and catch up to the present in one weekend. Let's try to stay in touch more between now and the next gathering. God bless each and everyone of you.

What a fantastic reunion weekend! My family and I had such a great time. It was great catching up with my really good friends from high school - Bernadette, Beth, Stephanie, Buddy, Mary Beth, Gina, etc. and then getting to know others better - Eric & Belaine, Kathy & Michael, etc. Thanks so much for a great time today Kathy & Michael - at Zilker Park & Barton Springs. What a fantastic family you have! Any time any of my classmates from 1978 pass through Chesapeake, VA, make sure you give me a call! (757) 549-1411. Let's have another reunion in 5 years - not wait for 10 more years to go by!

Just wanted to say thanks to Buddy and all those that helped with the reunion, you guys are GREAT! It was so wonderful to see so many good friends and catch up on the past 10, 20, 30 years. I have recently moved back to Austin after being gone for over 20 years and to be able to make connections with old friends was priceless. Thanks again to Buddy and crew for making it all happen.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who made the reunion possible. Buddy and Mary Beth come to mind in particular. However, to all the folks that I don't know about that contributed to such a smooth running and well organized gathering.... thanks! It was a great couple of days and it was so nice to see everyone. It really took me back. All our classmates are what made the reunion so much fun. A special thanks to all of you that showed up and validated the hard work the organizers did. I can't wait until the next one. I felt so blessed to be able to step back into the lives of you guys for a day or two. We should do something a little more often!

I think Gina said it best…the weekend was surreal, and a lot of fun. Buddy, Mary Beth, Jeff, Teresa, and everyone else who worked to put this thing together…thank you. Buddy thanks for making a fellow classmate feel welcome after a 30 year absence. Jeff the golf outing was a blast…thank you for squeezing me in at the last minute. Joe, Danny, Scott and Shelly…we had a good run. Danny, that final shot on 18 was spectacular! And Shelly…don’t ever ask if you are needed on the golf course again. Stephanie S…. too funny that we didn’t recognize each other Saturday afternoon…guess we needed those name tags at all times. I trust everyone made Danny feel welcome, it’s always tough being the spouse at these things (and please don’t forget to e-mail the pictures you took on Saturday night). Good to see my fellow Z’s again…Gina you are still one of the nicest people I have ever met…teaching all these years hasn’t jaded you a bit …and Jennyne…that 20 dollars invested over 30 years with compound interest…you may have been looking at early retirement…oh well. Ellen B. I did not recall until later that we worked at Rylander’s together. Were you part of our group that went straight from work to the midnight showing of Rocky Horror at Riverside Drive…12 Saturday nights in a row? What were we thinking? Drew P great to see you again…it’s too bad none of the other guys from the team could make it. Hope everyone stays well until the next time we meet.

Before the moment passes, I want to give a shout-out to some folks in acknowledgement of meritorious service at the picnic on Saturday. The first big attaboy goes to Trix Bettis, who contributed this work of art to the festivities:

CHS78 Reunion Cake - wow!

It was almost too pretty to eat.. almost!

Attaboy numbers two through eleven are for the following brave souls who withstood the tempest at 2 p.m.and broke down the picnic. Despite the thunder, lightning, hail, torrential rain, and gusting winds, they stayed steadfastly on task until they were DONE!

   The Crew
Alice "Storm" Lottes Andy "Invincible" Lottes
Grant "The Terminator" Rose Mary Beth "Die Hard" Kelley
Tony "Crash" Gilliam Richard "Zen Master" Lovejoy
Belaine "Lightning" Scheuermann Erick "Thunder" Scheuermann
Paul "Slow Hand" Davis John "Thrash" Barron

Me and Gardner sat in the truck watching 'em, and Tim said, "I sure appreciate those folks doing that for us."

"Sheesh," I replied, "they're getting wet!"

Dear friends, as you might know this was the first reunion that I have been able to attend! WOW WAS IT GREAT!!! Just seeing everyone again was fantastic! BUTTT that was only the beginning... I have the most wonderful news!!! Jeff Sheppard has graciously agreed to become a sperm donor for one of our classmates impotent family member!!! NOW we all know that Jeff has been known to toot his own horn! But I just knew he would not want to brag on this..he can be modest (believe it or not)! this might go on record as being one of those modest moments, although I think he just wants to be sure of the outcome before bragging on himself! While we know he loves attention, I just couldn't let him do something so wonderful and not share this news with everyone that was there to see us reunited! My family is so excited and thrilled to be able to share this with everyone! I will be sending updates to everyone one when we get the happy news of his success! I hope it's a boy!! Please drop him a line and let him know how unselfish a thing he is doing!! I love you Jeff! Thanks again Danielle & Jerry!

Jeff Shepperd / posted Jun 27, 2008 at 17:43

Actually,Danielle,ONCE AGAIN, you got the details mixed up. You had been drinking (HEAVILY,as usual)and volunteered YOURSELF to act as a surrogate Mother. I was ACTUALLY tooting YOUR Horn, and telling EVERYONE just how wonderful you were to accept this challenge. And Jerry was SO great about it,too. He just couldnt wait to see you pregnant at 48 years old..SEXY was the word he used ,I believe. The only other detail I can recall is that you volunteered to have 6 or 7 children of our fellow Classmates(and some kid who was a waiter). I LOVE ya,GF. HAVE a GREAT DAY, and remember,Ill ALWAYS be your BF, no matter how many times you get pregnant.

Just wanted to acknowledge my indebtedness to a soul who allowed me to share so many things in school and in life with. This special person deserves, forever in my mind and heart, to be considered "My BEST" ever pal and comrad!!! No matter the present or past, tempest or solice, rain or draught, I could count on my friend (Bill Balboa) to be there for me. We hardly ever get to see one another. so let me say here proudly and openly that "I Love You Man" and I always will. A guy named Johnathan best described this love (O.T.) as one that even surpasseth the love of a woman (NO GAY THING). Really cannot repay you enough for being there in good times, gas, Taco Bell, and in so many other ways (jeesh, your family drank so many cokes, the return deposite collected financed my freedom from the sticks(Oak Hill/Lake Travis) and to have belonging. Wish to of been able to see you at the reunion, and hope to see you soon. PS Going to see "KISS" in San Antonio with you in the White Bomb Rod, seems like just yesterday. Miss you lots!

Richard Lovejoy / posted Jul 02, 2008 at 22:38

Ooops, the quote from O.T. was from David to/about Johnathan.... I stand corrected. May the Lord grant us all blessed entrance into His Kingdom and to forever in His presence and likeness be.
