Welcome to the Message Board, and feel free to take the conversation in whatever direction you like. Okay, how many events would you like to see at the thirty-year reunion? Is that Fri nite, a Saturday picnic, and Saturday nite? Do we drop the picnic? What about Friday night? Another thing I'd like some feedback on is the Saturday nite event: does that have a band and a dance floor? Or is it a casino party, like the twenty-year? Or have you been to something else that you think deserves consideration?

We will tackle these questions when the reunion committee forms, but if you feel strongly about any of these, chime in!

I want to make the most of the weekend. My family and I will be flying to Austin on June 19th and will be there for a week and a half. I would love to see a casual get-together - perhaps at Scholtz's Beer Garden (does it still exist?), or some other local hang-out, on Friday evening. Then, a Saturday picnic (for the whole family) at Zilker or Garrison Park would be great! Saturday night, we could do a dinner/dance at a nicer place (adults only) so we can really socialize with our friends from 30+ years ago. It doesn't matter to me where this is held or if there is a DJ or a Band or just a piano player. The important thing is to set up a place where we can all get together and socialize for several hours, to catch up on old times. Can't wait to see you all again!! Thanks for taking your time to plan this event ... and for welcoming our input!

I'm pretty much with Debbie on all this - I definitely think we should have an informal get-together on Friday evening. Something casual, not too much money, come and go sort of place. I really would like to see us have something the whole family can enjoy on Saturday noon/afternoon - picnic would be great. And Saturday evening, either a dinner/dance or just dance - need to make sure that there is plenty of room for visiting though where the music won't be so loud that we can't talk. And I'd like to help on the planning committee.

Young Jeff Shepperd emailed me and said that he is checking out the possibility of a golf tournament on Saturday, also, so that's one more possibility in the mix. So I asked Johnny Rader if he was interested in playing golf on Saturday, and he said, "No sir - that giant Peter Pan scares me." He suggested that we rent a bus to the outlet mall in San Marcos for some shopping, then back by the nails place for a manicure before the big Saturday night shindig. Hmmmm.

I was in Austin the other day having lunch with my brother,Michael. We ate at the Firehall in Manchaca. They have a great outdoor pavilion that we could probably use for a dance/get together. The Vogel family runs the place(former CHS grads). There are plenty of picnic tables and a stage that a band/DJ could set up on. It is something I could look into if anyone wants. Michael gave me David Vogels #. I plan on having the Golf outing on Saturday a.m.June 21st. Once we get closer to the date,Ill get the course info, tee times, etc. It will be a 4 person scramble so we can play in under 5 hours. So far, I have committments from about 20 players/hackers!!Dana Heiling-Eskew and Patty Fossett-Jackson are playing on MY team.I am having seat belts along with a high back seat installed on the Golf Cart for Patty!! Also, I already have enough volunteers to drive the beer cart. Im beginning to think we may have to get a tractor trailer rig to haul all of the beverages with this group! If anyone is interested in joining this motley crew,PLEASE email me at intheneck12@hotmail.com. Have a great day, everyone. Jeff p.s.Hey Buddy, are you impressed that I ACTUALLY posted this on my own??!!! You are starting to have a positive influence. Where were you 35 years ago? js

WOW 30 years! I can't be that long ago since we are all still so young! Hey Jeff, I love the idea of the fire hall. Buddy round of golf would be fun, tell Radar that we will cover the Peter Pan with a big blanket so he won't have to look at him. I am open for just about anything, I should be in town that weekend, not planning on going to Brazil next summer. I am excited about this web sight I will keep checking back and help get the word out.

I am not sure but through years of therapy I may have gotten over those fears of Mr. Pan. The huge turtle on that back nine is a whole different battle I must deal with. The thing about missing a nail appointment, well that just won't stand. The fire hall sounds great.

I'm liking the casual get-together idea for Friday, picnic on Saturday and something fun on Saturday evening. Is it possible to get a band that can fit all our likes? Personally, I would vote for a country band instead of a DJ--like more "belly rubbin' " instead of "shakin' my groove thang". And Johnny...I'm with you--that Pan dude is freaky!

David Matney / posted Dec 12, 2007 at 18:10

In lieu of some obvious physiological issues due to the freaky Pan dude – we could hold a group therapy/manicure session as an alternative for those not playing golf or driving the beverage cart/wagon/18-wheeler. Possibly Mr. Radar can refer a good Disney character therapist who moonlights as a manicurist? The Fire Hall would be a good venue for an evening dance & greet, but book it early!

Why of course the "Manly Men" are none other than....Rusty(the lady killer)Uresti, Mike(the heat)Withrow, Ronnie(pale legs)Douglas, and our dear late friend...Kenny(Mr. Baseball)Wiley. That's my answer to the "Dog" pound. Am-I-Right or Amarillo? I can't wait to see everyone in June....Friday mixer, Saturday a.m.-Golf, Manchaca Fire Hall, BBQ and fixin's....If that's the way the wind is blowing I'm happy! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All - Drew
